Male basketballers show steady progression
Coach of the Guyana’s Inter-Guiana Games (IGG) Female Volleyball team, Trevor Smith remained optimistic that his charges will give a good showing in Suriname later this week while stating that they are working on some systems.
Smith assured Kaieteur Sport yesterday that the young women have done all the basics to be on par for the competition and they are fine-tuning a few systems, which they are most likely to implement against Suriname and French Guiana.
“Basically what’s happening with us is that we are currently fine-tuning certain aspects of our game like how we will run our systems.
We have all the basics intact like our attack,” Smith informed ahead of his final training session.
The national volleyball coach indicated that there will be a final training session today as the team is scheduled to depart Guyana Thursday morning. Efforts to contact the national male coach, Levi Nedd proved futile yesterday.
Meanwhile, the national IGG male basketball team has showed steady progression with a warm-up game win over Dyna’s Ravens last weekend. The junior national team won 94-84 against the Ravens after losing their previous games.
The IGG male basketball team had lost against Pacesetters 78-63 and 70-62; Pepsi Sonics 60-56 and Ravens 63-60. The final warm-up win against Ravens highlighted steady improvement for the team after consistent performances. (Edison Jefford)
