The Guyana Post Office Corporation will be commemorating “World Post Day” today along with 190 other postal administrations across the world.
Various activities have been planned in observance of this date which was first officially observed and declared World Post Day in 1969 in Tokyo, Japan.
According to Public Relations Officer, Yolaskee Jervis, “There will be an Employee of the Year award which is a first. We found that employees take pride in their job and it would also be a motivation factor to work harder for development.”
There will be a release of stamps featuring Michael Jackson and two NBA (National Basketball Association) teams’ (the LA.Lakers and the Orlando Magic) today at the Lamaha and Carmichael Street Post Office.
Schools will be invited to view the exhibit and are scheduled to do so during the morning hours at the main offices.
