Another thrilling day of cycling is anticipated this Sunday when the Continental Cycle Club (CCC) brings off the 3rd Max Pereira and Marlis Archer Memorial Race meet at the outer circuit of the National Park.
The event which is sponsored by the Alliance for Change is expected to be well attended with attractive prizes and trophies at stake. Riders competing in the Hand in Hand meet tomorrow at the inner circuit of the National Park are expected to be out again on Sunday to set the streets ablaze.
Coming back readily to mind was the exciting duel in last year’s feature open 20-lap race which saw Tyrone Hamilton beating old rival Alonzo Greaves to the line in one of the most exciting finishes for 2008.
Hamilton, though, has not been as active as Greaves since that memorable finish and it is not quite certain that he will be out for Sunday’s event including the feature which has at stake a lean trophy apart from the replica and attractive cash incentives.
Other races carded; Junior/Juveniles (5 laps), Category 1, 2, 3&4 (5 laps), Veteran Under 50 (3 laps), Veteran Over 50 (3 laps), Mountain & Upright Bikes (3 laps), BMX (6-9 yrs) from GDF, BMX 9-12 (1 Lap), BMX 12-14 (1 Lap) and BMX Girls Open (1 lap).
Among the winners last year were Naiomi Singh, Raymond Perez Jr., Greaves and Raymond Newton among others.
