Its Rodeo time again and all roads will lead to the Rising Sun Turf West Coast Berbice where the Rising Sun Rodeo Committee is set to bring off a grand one-day Rodeo on Sunday October 25 beginning at 11:00 hrs.
President of the Rising Sun Rodeo Committee Inshanally Habibulla said it will be a day full of fun with vaqueros from around the country expected to display their skills.
Habibulla told Kaieteur Sport that the idea of bringing the event to the Coast is to allow persons who have never witnessed such an event to have the opportunity.
A number of events are listed on the days programme including steer roping, bare back bronco, male and female barrel race, wild cow milking, calf roping, wild bull riding, saddle bronco and the popular Tug o War event.
Habibulla said that vaqueros (cow boys) are expected from Lethem and the Rupununi Savannahs.
A few are expected from overseas including Suriname, Venezuela and Brazil to match skills with their Guyanese counterparts that will be spearheaded by the West Coast posse.
Over $1M in prizes will be up for grabs at the event. This event has now become a regular feature on the Rising Sun calendar and is held as part of the West Berbice Agriculture Month activities.
Banks DIH limited and Rhythm Stars International will be on board to add some spice to the day’s activities.
