A robbery with the use of violence allegedly carried out by Seon Jackson, 23, of 29 Goed Fortuin, landed him before acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson at the Georgetown Magistrates’ court to answer the related charges.
It is alleged that on Saturday last, Jackson robbed Rohanie Dinga while she was walking along Houston Street. She was robbed of a shoulder bag and $9,000 in cash.
The defendant then made his escape after physically assaulting Dinga.
Appearing in court, the woman bore obvious marks of violence to her face.
She recounted, “I was trudging along Houston Street when the defendant appeared and snatched my bag… I put up a fight and he hit me nuff time in meh face”.
It was reported that police ranks later that day caught the defendant who still had the stolen items in his possession.
The defendant who pleaded not guilty stood speechless in the court when asked by the magistrate for a reason to believe that he is indeed “not guilty”.
He was therefore remanded and slated to return on October 20.
