Speed XI defeated Part Plus XI by three wickets on Saturday evening at the Everest Cricket Club ground on Carifesta Avenue in a feature 20-over softball cricket match.
Part Plus batted first and only scored an insufficient 104 all out off 17.3 overs. Speed XI, in reply, safely reached 105-seven in the penultimate over.
Ganesh Persaud top scored with 23 for Par Plus as man-of-the-match Yonnis Mohamed grabbed four wickets for 10 runs from his allotted four overs and skipper Pradeep Abdool two for 17 off four overs.
When Speed XI batted, left-hander Patrick Khan hit 24 laced with two fours and a six, while Mohamed made 14 not out. Premnauth Singh took two wickets for 18 runs off four overs.
The winner received a trophy, while the runners-up also took home a trophy. Khan was adjudged the best batsman; Abdool the best bowler and best catcher was Kemal Seebarran. All received a trophy, compliments of Steve’s Jewellery whose business is located on Church Street, Georgetown.
