Yamaha Caribs ended with the maximum 6 points from three matches to cart off Hornets Anniversary Rug-A-Rama which was held last Sunday at the National Park.
Caribs played unbeaten to record victories against the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) by a 24-7 margin and then returned to beat Hornets ‘B’ 31-0, before squeezing past Hornets ‘A’ 12-7.
Hornets ‘A’ and GDF finished in joint second place on 3 points apiece, while Hornets ‘B’ failed to register a single point.
In the Ladies segment, Roraima ended winners by two games to one over GT&T Panthers.
In the day’s full results: Men’s- Caribs defeated GDF 24-7; Hornets ‘A’ beat
Hornets ‘B’ 59-0; Caribs then cruised past Hornets ‘B’ 31-0; Hornets ‘A’ and GDF drew 19-19; GDF crushed Hornets ‘B’ 35-0 and Caribs edged Hornets ‘A’ 12-7.
The best of three ladies contest saw Roraima win via the points system.
GT&T Panthers won the opening encounter 12-5, but conceded the second 12-20, before drawing the decider 5-5.
Among those who won individual prizes were Karen Norville-Best Kicker, Carren Skeete-Late for rugby and Sabola Gray-Fastest female player.
Meanwhile, both national teams continue preparations for the upcoming NACRA Sevens Championships scheduled to be staged in Mexico from November 14-15.
