Two persons miraculously escaped death and serious injury when the car they were traveling in toppled several times before settling on a concrete bridge on the Buxton Main Road.
The occupants, a male and a female, were traveling east along the East Coast Demerara when the mishap occurred shortly after Saturday midnight.
Eyewitnesses said that the driver of the car, a Toyota Ceres, appeared to have lost control near a slight bend in the road.
The car ripped out pieces of a wooden bridge and toppled several times before settling on the concrete bridge.
The occupants were seen climbing through the windows before they were taken to the hospital by a public spirited person.
Kaieteur News understands that they were both treated and sent home.
Many commuters stopped and stared at the wreckage with many expressing shock that no one had died.
The car was wrecked beyond repair.
