PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad (CMC) – West Indies pacer Ravi Rampaul produced a fine three-wicket spell that propelled Daren Ganga’s XI to a 20-run victory over Amit Jaggernauth’s side in Trinidad and Tobago’s latest Champions League Twenty20 practice match.
Batting first, Ganga’s side posted 166 for six off their 20 overs and Jaggernauth’s XI replied with 146 for six at the National Cricket Centre in Couva.
Rampaul bowled effectively for figures of three for 14, stifling Jaggernauth XI’s run chase.
For Ganga’s XI, the captain top-scored with 38 and West Indies middle-order batsmen Kieron Pollard (36) and Dwayne Bravo (31) made solid contributions.
Pacer Navin Stewart was chief wicket-taker for Jaggernauth’s XI with two for 43 and returned to smash 46 not out in their failed victory bid.
Justin Guillen (28) was the only other significant scorer for Jaggernauth’s side and Sunil Narine supported Rampaul’s bowling effort with two for 10.
T&T, the reigning Caribbean T20 champions, travel this weekend to India where they will go up against India’s Deccan Chargers and English County club Somerset in Group A of the T20 Champions League.
The tournament is scheduled to bowl off next Thursday and will feature the domestic Twenty20 club champions from around the cricket world clashing for the title as world T20 kings.
