Floodlight XI and Shattaville Masters will clash in the first quarter-final which will be played at the Demerara Cricket Club today beginning at 10:00am.
Both teams are brimming with confidence since they have both chalked up wins in their last preliminary matches to book their place into this stage.
Floodlight XI have the edge since they defeated the Shattaville Masters in the preliminary round.
On the other hand Shattaville have regrouped since that loss and have defeated some strong teams thus their presence in the quarters.
Floodlight XI have in their line up the evergreen Wayne Jones who have a wealth of experience and will be a handful with both bat and ball, supporting him will be Imtiaz Mohamed who already has a century under his belt against his opponents in the preliminary round and can be devastating with the ball.
Additional support will come from Ricky Deonarine who also has a century in the preliminary rounds and will be eager for a repeat.
On the other hand Shattaville Masters, who have improved tremendously with every match, will be looking to Linden McKoy who has been their top batsman and have consistently scored over fifty without going on to bigger things. This time he will be hoping to get past this hurdle and he will be supported in the batting and bowling by the skipper of the side Narine Ragunandan who has shown that he can take the game away from opponents with both bat and ball.
They will be supported by all rounder Narinedat Parasadai who has always chipped in, but will be looking for bigger things in this important encounter. The men in charge of officiating will be Ravendra Ramgobin and Trevor Wharton.
Meanwhile, the other quarter-finals will be played next week at various venues which will be announced.
