Competition in the inaugural Guyana Football Federation National Super League funded under the Win in CONCACAF with CONCACAF project, will continue today with five matches around the country.
One of only two unbeaten teams and leading the points tally with 8, Alpha United, will lock horns with Bakewell Topp XX in one of two matches set for the Mackenzie Sports Club ground in the Bauxite Mining Town of Linden this evening.
The home team, with two losses and a win will be aiming to halt the progress of the top team in the city who boast a record of two wins and an equal amount of draws.
The next game in Linden will see Victoria Kings and Milerock both on 4 points each going head to head in what is anticipated to be a scorching contest. The Kings, representing East Coast pride has played one game more (4) than the top side in the Bauxite Town, both teams scoring 3 goals while conceding 5 apiece. The home crowd is expected to come out in full force to back their local boys.
The other unbeaten team in the competition and already creating a name for themselves, Seawall based at Pouderoyen on the West Demerara will enjoy home advantage at the Uitvlugt ground against the top side from the East Coast, Buxton United.
Seawall, on 5 points from 3 matches, (1 win & 2 draws) will not be taking the East Coast champions lightly but will be aiming for full points against a young side.
At the Bartica Community Centre ground, the home team Liquid Gold, holding down the second spot in the standings with Rosignol United (6 points) will entertain the Guyana Defence Force as they aim to strengthen their quest for the top spot.
And up at the Blairmont Community Centre ground, Sunburst Camptown will face Rosignol United.
Meanwhile, the GFF Female Inter Association tournament will also continue today. At the Blairmont Community Centre ground from 13:30hrs, Berbice will welcome Georgetown who will be playing their first match of the competition, Berbice already losing to the unbeaten Rupununi ladies.
From the same time at the Bartica Community Centre ground, the home team will take on East Coast. This will also be Bartica’s first match of the league.
