Zone ‘A’ champions Vergenoegen and zone runner-up Zeeburg will clash at Meten-Meer-Zorg West from 10:00hrs tomorrow and the East Bank Essequibo team will be out to revenge their 180-run preliminary round loss to Zeeburg.
Both teams will be hunting their first title in the Barakat Brother’s Competition. Zeeburg will look to their leading run-scorer Amit Jairam who has 205 run’s in this competition.
Captain Mandolall Doodnarine, Yetesh Dhanpaul and Safraz Karim are also expected to lend support with the bat while Zeeburg’s bowling will be spearheaded by medium pace Chrishurdial Persaud and left-arm spinner Timur Mohamed.
Vergenoegen strength is their batting and will be lead by 19-year-old left-hander and Captain Michael Goberdhan with support from Alwick Legall, Kevin Boodie and Fazil Goberdhan.
The competition’s leading wicket-taker, Javid Shafeek, who has 19 wickets and Trelon Garraway, brother of National Pacer Trevor Garraway will be looking to bowl Vergenoegen to victory.
The Vergenoegen’s team will come from Micheal Goberdhan (Captain), Arnold Padmore, Shurland Wilson, Alwick Legall, Trelon Garraway, Fazil Goberdhan, Javid Shafeek, Kevin Boodie, Dwayne Graham, Mark Miller, Adil Barth, Romel Singh and Phillips Walters.
The Zeeburg Team will be lead by Mandalall Doodnarine and include Amit Jairam, Chrishurdial Persaud, Safraz Karim, Ganesh Narine, Joel Ramsahai, Yetesh Dhanpaul, Medha Dhanpaul, Timur Mohamed, Naresh Persaud, Avinash Yougnauth, Sathrohan Persaud, Dhanpaul and Azad Azeeze. The umpires are Randolph Jairam and Prittipaul George.
Meanwhile, Essequibo team Devonshire Castel will take on Meten-Meer-Zorg ‘A’ at Meten-Meer-Zorg today in 40 over match for a winner-take-all prize of $40,000 and a trophy sponsored by the Barakat Brothers.
