The Lusignan Golf Club will stage the inaugural Ivan Mackie/ David de Caires Memorial golf tournament at the Lusignan Golf Course.
The event will be a medal Play tournament and commences at 12.30pm.
De Caries, the former founder and Editor-in-Chief of the daily independent newspaper Stabroek News died on November 1 last year, while Mackie an avid golfer died tragically whilst traveling to the club to participate in a tournament.
Today’s event is being sponsored by the Lusignan Golf Club of which de Caires was a former president and Club Captain, A number of top players will be in action including Ian Gouveia who won last year’s Stabroek News sponsored tournament, are expected to participate.
Also expected to be on show are Clifford Reis, Lester Alvis, Colin Ming, Jerome Khan, Alfred Mentore and last year’s Guyana Open winner Imran Khan, Christine Sukhram, Joann Deo, Maurice Solomon, Mel Sankies, Munaf Arjune, Brian Hackett, Robert Hanoman, Bolaram Deo, Dr. Ram Singh, Gavin Todd, Mark Lashley, William Walker, Mike Guyadin, Patrick Prashad, Bruce Cummings Albert Russell, Mike Mangal and Melissa Humphrey.
The players will also be using this tournament as preparations for next month’s Guyana Open which is scheduled for November 14-15 at Lusignan.
