17 year-old wife want to identify buried husband

Seventeen-year-old, Saveita Ramphal, also known as Ahalia, was the reputed wife of Mahendra Singh, one of the dead seamen found on the eastern shores of an Essequibo River island (Hamburg).
The body of the 25-year-old was found at approximately 10:30 hrs last Wednesday, two miles away from another body that was found the day before on Wakenaam.
The teen and Singh had shared a home for more than two years, and were described as being deeply in love.
Ramphal now says that she was left senseless by the discovery, and that she still can’t believe that he was one of the gutted and murdered seamen.
They were introduced by a friend. Ahaila recalled how the two hit it off instantly. They had planned to announce their relationship to her parents.
Being 15 at the time and attending secondary school, Ramphal was a young girl who knew that she had found her soul mate in the 23-year-old Singh.
Ramphal told Kaieteur News that Singh had financially assisted in putting her through school, for which she was grateful. The two eventually moved in together at Parika, after Ramphal finished school.
Though still in shock over the news of her reputed husband being murdered, Ramphal says she would still like to have a chance to see the body for herself, to see for herself that her love died on the murky waters of the Essequibo River.
For the past couple of months, many have lost their lives on the river, though not due to the current or rough waters.
