Fire victim Joylyn Barker, a mother of one of 38 Public Road, Bagotstown, East bank Demerara, had said that she would have migrated after losing everything she owned when fire destroyed her home, on September 25, last.
Her two bedroom house was totally destroyed and all her earthly possessions were burnt to cinder while she was out. She also lost all her travel and other documents in the flames. Since then she has resorted to sleeping under a mango tree in her yard.
Yesterday, Cobeer Persaud, proprietor of Anand Dental Lab of 14 Public Road, Peters Hall, donated $100,000 in cash to the woman to help her rebuild her life. He also issued a call to the public to join in the act of benevolence.
