Brenda Campbell, 27, of 54 Robb Street, Georgetown, was placed on $50,000 bail yesterday after she appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson on a charge of possession of narcotics.
On September 29, the mother of four allegedly attempted to transport 10g of cannabis into the Camp Street prison to her husband who is currently incarcerated.
Prosecutor Edmond Cooper told the court that the woman “took some food for her husband to the prison and it was checked by the prison officers. The substance was found concealed within the food.”
In representation of the accused, Attorney-at-law Adrian Thompson told the court, “According to the law the charge read to the accused is bailable.” He asked that reasonable bail be granted.
The magistrate granted bail to the accused. The accused is expected to return to court on October 28.
