On Tuesday, September 15, last, U.S. Embassy Political Officer, Richard Bakewell, handed over a quantity of Scholastic Book sets to four schools in Linden – the Mackenzie and Wismar Hill Primary and Linden Foundation and Wismar/Christianburg Secondary Schools.
The books, donated under the Embassy’s Book Donation programme, are a mix of age-appropriate fiction and non-fiction texts spanning a wide range of subjects, intended to broaden the academic horizons of the children who read them.
Through this programme, the Embassy periodically makes such donations to schools, and welcomes requests from any school administrator who would like to benefit from this program.
The book donation coincided with a US$10,000 sports equipment presentation to the same four schools, made during the Embassy’s Humanitarian Assistance Programme Sports Day.
