“You are our partners in the drive to lift Berbice Cricket to an all time level and we are thankful for your contribution over the years. While the Berbice Cricket Board is thankful for your coverage of all our cricket tournaments and events, we also welcome your constructive criticism and comments because it has assisted us to keep our focus straight and correct mistakes you have identify”.
Those were the words of the Berbice Cricket Board Special Events Committee Chairman and PRO Hilbert Foster at a special cocktail reception to honour the media for their contribution to Berbice Cricket.
The Public Relations Officer praised the media for its coverage of board activities on and off the field over the years and noted that over the last two years the media especially the electronic section in Berbice has developed a working relationship with the Berbice Cricket Board as partners.
The Board places a lot of emphasis on the media relationship as it was a policy of the current administration to keep all shareholders informed of all developments and also to seek feedbacks on its work.
President Keith Foster and Treasurer Anil Beharry both expressed gratitude to the media and expressed the hope that the relationship would continue in the future as it was important that that the Berbice Cricket Board continue to keep the public informed.
The President stated that the theme of the Berbice Cricket Board is openness and transparency and that is the reason why the board hosts regular press conferences to update the public about all its activities including financial status and statements.
Those honoured at the event were DTV-8, LRTVS CH 10 and NCN Ch 15, Guyana Chronicle, Stabroek News, Guyana Times and Kaieteur News.
Individual Journalists acknowledged included Gregory Rambarran, Tracy Leitch, Tracy Khan, Faizal Jafarally, Leon Horatio, Frankie Wilson, Sean Devers, Calvin Roberts, Rovindra Madholall, Avinash Ramzan, Donald Duff and Marlon Munroe.
Each of the Journalists present received a certificate of appreciation and two gifts while the remainder would receive theirs later this week.
The Berbice Cricket Board would like to express gratitude to the Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club and Metro Office Supplies for the sponsorship of this programme.
