Ryan Heyliger XI won the South Essequibo U-17 one day two innings cricket competition after gaining first innings points from Aurora in the final played on Saturday at Suddie on the Essequibo Coast.
Heyliger X1 batted first and made 121 all out in 24 overs with Rabindra Persaud being the main run scorer with 40 while Heyliger supported with 18.
Wazim Karoon took 3-20 for Aurora who were bowled out for 69 in 17 overs in their first innings. Andy Dass scored 15 while Heyliger grabbed 3-15 and Javed Azeez 4-11.
Heyliger X1 were 130-4 in their second innings when the game was called off at 5pm. Rabindra Persaud was again among the runs with 34.
Heyliger X1 collected the winning team trophy while Andy Dass of Aurora emerged as the competition’s best batsman. He was given a bat compliments of Michael Persaud.
Meanwhile Golden Fleece SC won the U-17 40 overs and 20/20 competitions. Coach Forbes Daniels encouraged the youngsters to take the game seriously.
Meanwhile, South Essequibo have named their team to face North Essequibo in the Schools U-15 cricket competition.
The squad reads: Andy Dass (capt.), Ricardo Peters, Placid Edwards, Mahendra Harrychand, Allister Paul, Raj Parbattie, Narendra Sarabjeet, Johnny Gopaul, Albert Ramnauth, Wazeer Karoon, Akeel Wallace, Yougesh Singh, Keon Davis and Akeem Adams. Rajkumar Rajkumar (manager) Andy Ramnarine (Coach).
