Good Success SC defeated Noitgedacht SC by 7 runs in the final preliminary Zone B game of the Sterling Products 40 overs Cricket Competition last Sunday at the Wakenaam Community Centre Ground in Good Success.
The home team won the toss and elected to bat first and found themselves in trouble at 39-3 in 5 overs. Essequibo 4 day player Nazeer Mohamed 37, Abdool Salim 35, Youganand Balgobin 21 and Wazir Khan 20 then ensured they reached 159 before they were all out in 36 overs.
Spinner Deonarine Persaud with 5-13 and Imran Hassan 2-32 were the main wicket takers were the visitors.
Noitgedacht in reply scored 153 all out in 39.1 overs. Former Essequibo U-19 player Anthony Osborne top scored with 47 while Imran Hassan supported with 19. Extras also contributed 36.
Medium pacer Wazir Khan grabbed 4-19 off 7.1 overs while left arm spinner Imran Khan took 2-25 off 8 overs and Abdool Salim 2-20 from 8 overs for the winners.
Good Success SC who topped Zone B will now play Zone A winner Sans Souci SC in the final at the same venue. A date will be decided shortly by the competitions committee.
Meanwhile, the teams for the final will come from Good Success:- Mustak Mohamed (Capt.) , Nazeer Mohamed , Wazeer Mohamed, Iftikar Mohamed, Imran Khan (V.C), Wazir Khan, Abdool Salim, Chandreka Ragnauth, Youganand Balgobin, Lionel Singh, Komal Persaud and Vijay Persaud.
Sans Souci:- Roopnarine Persaud (Capt), Wayne Osborne, Oyono Sampson (V.C), Varounie Sasepaul, Heera Sookram, Jaggernauth Manbodh, Gurnauth Khemraj, Ceon Venture, Vickram Ramnarine, Nokta Moses, Keddernauth Narain and Satnarine Sahadeo.
