Clear Waters $1M countrywide 15-over softball competition, under the auspices of the Guyana Softball Windball and Cricket Association (GSWCA), is set to bowl off on November 11.
The competition will be played on a round-robin basis and will feature five zones: Demerara, Berbice, Essequibo, West Coast Demerara and Linden.
Cash incentives and trophies are up for grabs and an exciting competition, which is expected to run for approximately two to three months, is anticipated.
The winning team will pocket $250,000 in the Demerara zone, while the runners-up will get $60,000, third-place $20,000 and fourth-place $10,000; trophies and other individual prizes are also up for grabs.
In Berbice zone, the winner will pocket $60,000; West Coast’s winners, Essequibo and Linden’s winner will all take home $40, 000 each. Runners-up teams, Most Valuable Players and other individual prizes are also on offer in the various districts.
All rules and regulations will be run under the GSWCA, according to organizing secretary Royston ‘Don’ Ramsarran.
Clear Waters is a product from International Pharmaceutical Agency (IPA) and Managing Director Lloyd Singh expressed pleasure at being associated with GSW&CA. Singh has supported several sporting disciplines over the years and his latest gesture highlights his commitment to offer assistance.
Teams desirous of joining the competition from Demerara area are asked to contact Ramsarran on 618-2222, Berbice Tony Amerally on 626-8448, West Coast Demerara Ryan Boodhoo 656-6000 and Ravi of Essequibo Coast on 614-6297 for further information and registration.
Registration fees for Demerara is $10,000, Berbice, $3,000, West Coast, Essequibo and Linden is $2,000 per a team.
Meanwhile, all finals will be played under lights at various venues across the country.
The Demerara zone championship game will be played at the GSW&CA ground on Carifesta Avenue, Georgetown.
