Dear Editor,
Channel 72 on the night of Saturday, September 26, 2009 featured a call in programme and the topic read, “What’s your favourite position.”
It was actually just a few seconds before the final caller called in that I spontaneously tuned in out of curiosity to have a deeper understanding of what exactly this particular channel promotes.
I guess by now it is evident that I am a die hard fan of American programmes and television.
The final caller shared her favourite position which is the “Pencil Position” that the host appeared to be shell-shocked about learning. It was interesting to know that sex education/talk is now transmitted via the medium.
I learnt from the dailies over the last weekend that a UG lecturer ((Evan Persaud) services were terminated for improper conduct and teachings.
I never met the lecturer or know the individual personally, but I believe that the evidence collected has to be very damaging for the University to take such immediate action.
From the report in the dailies, it was said that this particular lecturer was having sex lessons/teachings or sex education and apparently that contributed to his termination.
Should that really be a big fuss?
It is more or less accepted by society for sex talk/sex education which is transmitted via the medium, so why have the University students object to such teachings and allow that to be part of the evidence against the lecturer?
It is only this particular aspect of the report I am concerned about, because I am not sure if the line has to drawn somewhere.
