Authorities are recalling three prescription tablets which they say may be contaminated.
According to a statement from the Government Analyst Food and Drug Department, it received information from Health Canada that Apotex Inc., a drug manufacturer, has voluntarily recalled some of its products for possible remote foreign matter contamination.
This included APO-Amilzide Tablets which is used to treat cirrhosis of the liver. Batches numbering JD5858, JF0078, JD5863, JD5864 and JF0079 are all being recalled.
A batch of APO-meloxicam tablets which is used to treat rheumatoid arthritis is also being recalled and this includes batches JD4927 and JD4929.
Additionally, APO-Ranitidine tablets are also believed to be contaminated and the Food and Drug Department said that this included batch HM5503 and HL7558. It is used to treat duodenal ulcers.
In its statement, the department called on all importers, pharmacies and health care providers to check its inventory and surrender them.
