Dear Editor,
I wish to remonstrate with Dr Prem Misir for not showering enough praise on The Great Leader Bharrat ‘Kim Il Sung’ Jagdeo in his letter, “Jagdeo penetrates the global village” (Kaieteur News 9-25-09).
Dr Misir should have detailed the Great Leader’s numerous and spectacular successes at home before he sallied forth to save the world from climate change. Perhaps I can fill the void in Dr Misir’s letter.
The Great Leader inherited a country that was devoid of the basic political, social, economic and physical infrastructure so necessary for modern development. He saw how impoverished the people were and he felt their pain. The Great Leader all by himself conjured up and implemented a master plan to save the people.
The Great Leader saw that Guyana was very deficient in electricity generation and supply so he built our first hydro electric plant that gave the people abundant, reliable, and cheap electricity.
The country quickly developed light manufacturing industries, IT and outsourcing services. Working street and traffic lights were installed throughout Guyana. Modern bridges spanned all our rivers. Mud dams became paved streets. A railway connected our intermediate savannahs to new air and sea ports.
The Great Leader knew that transportation and communication infrastructure were not enough; he also invested heavily in education, even at UG, and soon we were producing skilled workers, technicians, engineers, and managers to staff our new industries.
The Great Leader also made sweeping changes at the political level. He threw out the ‘Burnhamite’ constitution and allowed the people to craft a new one with mechanisms that empowers all voting blocs and allows full participation of all blocs in the political decision making process. All ethnic security dilemmas were addressed.
The police and army were completely revamped with UN aid. The police now have a well staffed and functioning forensic lab. The DEA is finally operating in Guyana. The Freedom of Information Act is in place. The judiciary was also revamped. Corruption is zero. Crime is nearly nonexistent. Garbage dumps on the streets are now a distant memory.
Due to the Great Leader’s foresight and future planning Guyana is now a booming economic and social success. Our savannahs are now large scale agro complexes. The trains are busy hauling produce to processing plants and then to the new air and sea ports for export.
No longer are Guyanese fleeing to North America and the Caribbean. In fact the reverse is true. Guyanese are now returning in the thousands from New York and Bridgetown. People from the less fortunate Caribbean are now flocking to Guyana. Our Coast Guard primary role now is to intercept boats smuggling Barbadians into GT. Oh news flash from GINA, the Great Leader has decided that due to our new found prosperity Guyana does not need to draw money from the LCDS fund, but rather we will be paying money into the fund to assist the poor underdeveloped countries. Long live the Great Leader. A third term for the Great Leader. No. Presidency for life?
