Maria’s Pleasure SC defeated Noitgedacht SC by 124 runs as the Sterling Products 40 overs Cricket competition resumed in Wakenaam with one match last Sunday.
At the Wakenaam Community Centre ground, Maria’s Pleasure batted first and made 179 all out in 32 overs.
Middle order batsman Emanuel Lewis top scored with 51 (2×6, 4×4) while Cort Graham scored 39 (4×4), Marsh Sing 29 (2×4) and Kennard Lewis 17.
National female cricketer Althea Newark bagged 4-42 with her medium pace while Deonarine Persaud took 3-20 and former Essequibo U-19 player Anthony Osborne 2-20.
Noitgedacht who were missing some of their key players were bundled out for 55 in 19 overs in reply. Medium pacer Bernard Lewis captured 3-12 while there were two wickets each for Leonard Lewis, Kennard Lewis and Emanuel Lewis.
Noitgedacht will now face Good Success SC in the final Zone B game on Sunday at the same venue.
Meanwhile, Sans Souci have already qualified for the final after topping zone A with victories over Zeelandia SC and Sans Souci Jaguars SC. They are awaiting the winner of zone B.
Both Good Success and Maria’s Pleasure are on top of that zone with the former having one game remaining while the latter have already played all their matches.
A victory for Good Success on Sunday will take them into the final but if they lose the team with the highest net run rate will go through.
