As the clock slowly ticks away the hours to fight night, Shondell Alfred has heightened preparations to engage Corinne Van Ryck DeGroot for the most important fight of her life.
The promoters have promised an unforgettable show and have beseeched the business community to render corporate support towards the card’s success. Over the past two weeks the reporters of this newspaper have been kept busy documenting the immense support garnered from corporate Guyana for the card.
Yesterday morning we were again called into duty, this time as witnesses to another bit of corporate chivalry from none other than the management of the Ming’s Products and Services Ltd (MPS) in Urquhart Street. Supervisor of Sales and Marketing, Kurt Anthony Yee, acted on behalf of MPS and handed over a sizeable package to President of the Guyana Boxing Board of Control (GBBC), Peter Abdool and co-promoter, Stanford Solomon. Mr. Yee said that his organization was very delighted to have been of service even as he reminded media operatives that his organization has enjoyed a long standing relationship with local sports associations as well as personalities.
“This company has had a long standing tradition of supporting local talent. We are proud to be part of a strong Guyanese sporting heritage even as we pledge our commitment to future support,” Yee exhorted.
In response, both Mr. Abdool and Solomon conveyed deep gratitude to Mr. Yee.
Mr. Abdool said, “Ming’s has always demonstrated the true Guyanese spirit by their contribution to worthwhile sports activities.”
Mr. Solomon endorsed this view and added, “We look forward to continued amicable relations with Ming’s Products and Services as we strive to improve the lot of local boxing stalwarts.” Ming’s Products and Services are the sole distributors of all Yamaha Products.
