Tonight White Castle Fish Shop tackle De Hut bar in the first semi-final, while Ann’s Grove take on Terrence Bar with the leading goal scorer of the tournament Vibert Weekes in semi-final two of the Korner Kick Inter-Pub Futsal competition being contested at the National Gymnasium.
The battle for the semi-finals spots were completed on Tuesday last. In the first quarter-final game, Blue Iguana took on White Castle which ended two goals to five in favour of White Castle.
Goal scorers for Blue Iguana were Christopher Barnwell and Christopher King, while Omali Nassy, Dwayne Dickson, Steffon Moore and Devon Accra (2) scored for the winners.
In the second quarter-final game, GT&T were easily disposed by Ann’s Grove two goals to nil.
The first was an own goal, while Trevon Daniels added for Ann’s Grove.
While in the third quarter-final game, Intersection took on De Hut Bar. Beaten two goals to nil, the Intersection team showed little weakness having ball possession most of the game.
Unfortunately they couldn’t complete any of their goal scoring opportunities. However, Michael Oie and Randolph Wagner with one goal each put De Hut Bar into the semi-finals.
Meanwhile, in the fourth and final quarter-final game, Terence Bar took on the Brazilians. Junior Mattogrosso of the Brazilians scored the first goal putting his team in the lead.
The Brazilians however became complacent and leading goal scorer of the competition Vibert Weekes responded with an equalizer.
The Brazilians were given several other goal scoring opportunities but were unable to convert.
Within minutes Vibert Weekes scored two more goals, to end the game.
O’Riley Small of Terrence Bar was given a red card for committing a foul after being issued a yellow card earlier.
He is to miss the semi finals. Following his hat-trick, Vibert Weekes is currently the leading goal scorer of the competition with 10 goals.
