– event ushers in schools’ athletics season
St. John’s College will host its annual Inter-House Athletics Championships today at the Guyana National Service ground to usher in the Guyana Teachers’ Union and Ministry of Education 2009 schools’ track and field season. The former North Georgetown Inter-School Champions held their Inter-House field event yesterday at the Parade ground. Up to press time yesterday, the points to determine who won that competition were not tallied adequately.
However, keen competition is expected today in the sprint and distance events from athletes at the school, which produced the likes of Tai Payne and Dennis Horatio from the ‘old school’ and Nisa Alleyne from the ‘new school’.
St Johns College have produced many outstanding national junior and senior athletes and competition today will not be short on the display of talent.
Club coaches will be out in their numbers looking for potential stars to train.
