– Daby, Hanse also impressive
Unlimited four-wheel super vehicles driven by local Rondell Daby and Surinamese Hanse were among the main attractions at the Guyana Motor Racing & Sports Club Drag Race Meeting which was held last Sunday, at the South Dakota Circuit.
Daby, who drove a red Evolution and Hanse in a Black GMC Typhoon ended the day with one win apiece and were both declared winners, but could not contest the final since both vehicles experienced problems with overheating.
The Red Evolution proved to be the fastest car of the day.
Meanwhile, Group A was won by Shan Seejatan in the Fullworks sponsored Corolla, while Group B was won by Sergio Poeder from Suriname in a Starlet Glanza, and Group D champion was Sanjay Persaud of Sanjay Jewellery.
A total of 12 cars participated from Suriname.
The GMR&SC will now gear its sights to the upcoming November International Race Meeting which is expected to attract competitors from Barbados, Jamaica, USA, Canada, Suriname and St. Vincent & the Grenadines.
It will be the final leg of the Caribbean Series and a keenly contested day of racing is anticipated with the likes of Barbadians Stuart, Mark and Doug Maloney along with fellow countrymen Stuart Williams, Barry and Roger Mayers set to highlight the Bajan challenge, while Jamaicans David Summerbell, Doug Gore and Jaleel Handal spearhead the ‘Reggae country’ quest for top honours.
According to President of the Club Aaron Bethune, the Meeting Sunday was well attended and thanked the fans for their support.
