– claims two men cut bullet out of his leg
A dredge owner claims that after being shot by a man he reportedly knows and who owes him, the same individual ordered two men to cut the bullet out of his leg.
Nursing a gunshot wound to his right leg, yesterday, Teryl Gordon, 38, of Phoenix, Lusignan issued a call for his assailant (name given) to be arrested.
Gordon said he was shot at a mining camp in the Chiney Creek, Puruni area on Saturday by a man who allegedly owes him $10,000 and was also robbed of 15 penny weight of gold and a further $10,000.
He claimed that he had confronted the man earlier on Saturday asking for his money.
‘De man owe me $10,000 a li’l while now so I see he and ask for me money and he say he ain’t got none,” the man said. He alleges that his life was also threatened by the man who brandished two guns allegedly in front of a ranger and he left the scene. Reflecting he said “When the place start get dark I was passing he camp and all I hear is badang and I fall down.”
Feeling a sharp pain he realized that he was shot and bleeding but that did not stop his assailant from pursuing him. “As I lie down on the ground he come and start running through me pocket and he carry away 15 penny weight of gold and $10,000 cash and tell me shut up or he gon murder me.”
The man said he clearly heard the man order two other men at the camp site to “cut the bullet out of he leg” “They do that… they squeeze the bullet outta me foot.”
He said he remained on the ground for the rest of the night and managed to get transportation from a boat to the landing. “While I waiting to get transportation to the hospital he pass me and tell me if I talk he gon really murder me in front of a set of people and then he take transportation and go in the bush.”
The man said he was then transported to the Bartica hospital where he was treated and placed on a boat to be brought to Georgetown where was admitted at the Public hospital.
