Murdered overseas based Guyanese…
Three sisters of the overseas-based Guyanese, Motilall Singh, want police investigating his murder to cover all angles, including overseas connections and the possible involvement of other relatives.
Singh, 44, was knifed to death last Tuesday at Windsor Forest, West Coast Demerara. Five persons have been charged with his murder including one of his stepsons, two of his stepdaughters, and a husband of one of the stepdaughters.
Singh’s sisters flew into Guyana from the U.S after receiving news of their brother’s killing. Motilall Singh had come to Guyana to attend the funeral of his brother, Gowkarran Singh.
Now, the sisters are claiming that while Motilall was still alive, he had expressed concern about the way Gowkarran met his death. An autopsy showed Gowkarran Singh died of sclerosis of the liver, but the sisters claim that Motilall, before he died, had told them he saw marks of violence on his brother’s body.
With the death of the two brothers, the sisters yesterday expressed concern that the first brother who died might have also been murdered.
Yesterday, the sisters, Seranie Wong called Shanta, Savitri Singh called Radha, and Emawattie Jagan called Ellie, said they want police to investigate some persons who reside overseas, who might have had a hand in the murder of their second brother, Motilall.
Motilall left Guyana for the United States in February of 2001, the sisters said. Later, he got married to a cousin in an arrangement to keep her in the United States, the sisters claimed.
Before Motilall left New York to come to Guyana for his brother’s funeral, $73, 015 USD was withdrawn from his bank account. The sisters brought the withdrawal slip to prove it.
Ayube Hamid, Bissoodial Mahadeo, Hoosman Khan, Bibi Shameeza Khan and Bibi Fareda Khan are charged in connection with the murder of Motilall Singh.
Two of the accused, Ayube Hamid and Bissoodial Mahadeo, were charged with the capital offence of murder. According to the particulars of the case, the duo on September 8 last at Windsor Forest, West Coast Demerara, in the West Magisterial District in the county of Demerara, murdered Motilall Singh. It was detailed that Bibi Fareda Khan, Bibi Shameeza Khan and Hoosman Khan, all relatives of Singh, between September 2 and 8 last, also at Windsor Forest, West Coast Demerara, aided, abetted and commanded Ayube Hamid and Bissoodial Mahadeo to undertake the act of murdering Singh.
The accused were all remanded to prison until October 8 next when they are expected to make another court appearance.
A post mortem examination revealed that Singh suffered 20 stab wounds about his body. He died as a result of shock and haemorrhage due to multiple stab wounds.
