Narine chosen as captain
The Essequibo Cricket Board selectors have shortlisted a squad of 14 to represent the county in the upcoming senior four day inter county tournament which is scheduled to start on September 22.
Allrounder Ramesh Narine has been chosen to captain the side while opening batsman Norman Federicks will serve as his deputy. While Narine and Federicks are the two most experience batters in the team they will look for support from former national U-19 Mohindra Boodram, Yougeshwar Lall, Latchman Rohit and Dillon Heyliger along with Nazeer Mohamed and Anthony Persaud.National pacer Trevon Garraway and Trevor Benn are the fast men in the team which will be coached by Alfred Maycock.
The spin department seems in capable hands with the likes of Guyana U-19 left arm spinner Anthony Adams, Bartica spin twins of Andrew Wong and Andrew Williams, Leg spinner Narine, who now plays his cricket in Pomeroon, and off spinner Mohamed who plays for Good Success SC in Wakenaam.
East Bank Essequibo’s Lennox Andrews will perform the wicketkeeping duties. The team will be managed by Mervin Pearson.
