FIFA Instructor Merere Gonzales attend
The Guyana Football Referees Council (GFRC) in association with the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) on Saturday last conducted its Annual Fitness Test at the Police Sports Club Ground Eve Leary where some 35 officials participated.
According to the GRFC, the test is held primarily for Referees nominated for the FIFA List of International referees for the succeeding year and it also provides an opportunity for national referees to test their fitness levels.
In attendance were officials from across Guyana. They were all under the expert guidance of Trinidad and Tobago based FIFA Fitness Instructor Merere Gonzales who ensured that the test was conducted in accordance with FIFA’s conditionality’s.
This was the first time that a representative from FIFA had observed the Fitness Test and the GFRC has disclosed that this will be the standard practice where there are twelve (12) or more Match Officials on the FIFA list. The officials who completed the test were Selwyn Blair, Stanley Lancaster, Venton Mars, Dion Inniss, Rollin Tappin, Nykasie Liverpool, Odessa Caleb, Nicola Joseph, Christopher Joseph, Sherwin Johnson, Cleon Lindie, Joel Weeks, Mark Young, Franklyn Brisport-Luke, Albert Duncan, Kayode Lambert, Miguel Vieira and Dion Feassal. Sixteen officials did not complete the test.
