Parmanand Rampersaud grabbed career best 7-23 to set up an easy win for LBI Sports Club ‘A’ against Plaisance at LBI on Sunday in the East Coast zone of the Demerara Cricket Board (DCB) knock-out 50-overs 2nd division cricket competition.
Rampersaud tormented the batsmen on a slow track as Plaisance were bowled out for 61 runs in 18.3 overs in sunny conditions as only 2 batsmen (Orin McDonald 13 and Paul Abrams 11) reached doubles figures.
Vijay Singh, Arvindra Rampersaud and Indrajit Singh supported with a wicket each for LBI who raced to 65-4 in 11.4 overs.
Nayatanand Manbodh led the way with an unbeaten 25 not out while Vijay Singh made 11, Keith Haynes took 2 -15 for the visitors in a losing effort.
The competition continues on Saturday from 10:30hrs with Clonbrook facing Lions X1 at the Dochfour ground.
Eight matches are scheduled for Sunday: Good Faith play Cane Grove at Cane Grove ground, LBI SC ‘A’ face Dundee at LBI Community Centre ground, Golden Groove come up against Enmore at Enterprise ground, Lusignan ‘B’ battle Fairfield at the Fairfield ground, Unity oppose Buxton at Unity ground, Mahaica Sports Club face-off with Calcutta at the Calcutta ground, Shivala compete against Strathaven at Strathaven ground and the winner of the Lions X1/ Clonbrook game will take on Lusignan at Dochfour.
Meanwhile, the East Coast Cricket Board (ECCB) is notifying the clubs that the Board will be running off the Under-17and Under-15 competitions from next week.
As a result, clubs desirous of fielding U-17 & U-15 teams, are asked to make contact with the ECCB competitions committee on telephone number 643-3375.
