Jealous man ambushes ex-wife in partner’s presence
An injured Samantha at the Georgetown hospital yesterday being supported by Rupran Sugrim
A woman is nursing what is believed to be a fractured jaw and may loose several teeth after being ambushed by her ex-husband and his brother in the presence of her new lover.
Nursing injuries to her face is a woman only identified as Samantha, of Pearl, East Bank Demerara.
She was rushed to the hospital by her current partner of seven months, Rupran Sugrim, who described the ordeal as “a total surprise.”
He said he and Samantha were walking in the vicinity of America Street heading to the Timehri Bus Park, when suddenly a man he identified as Samantha’s ex-husband “appeared with a 2 x 4 plank” and dealt her several blows to the face.
Sugrim said the ex-husband was aided by his brother who also served her a volley of blows about the body.
Recalling the incident, he said, “When she get the lash dem she fall down and when me turn around dem two run away.”
The woman lost consciousness briefly and was rushed to the hospital. Sugrim opined that the ex-husband is jealous.
After the men ran away from the scene, several persons who had seen what had unfolded were able to apprehend the ex-brother- in-law and he was handed over to the police.
