Watookas Combined and Christianburg were the first set of winners Thursday night when the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport’s Linden Inter-Block Football competition got on the way at the Mackenzie Sports Club ground.
Watookas Combined secured a 3-1 win against Silvertown Scheme while Christianburg gained a walkover Cacatara Retrieve in the previous game.
Jomo Anthony placed Watookas ahead early in the match with a fifth minute strike while Ruel Telford returned ten minutes later in the 15th to equalise for Silvertown.
The game was even at 1-1 at the end of the first half.
Silvertown’s defence crumbled in the second half and Watookas were allowed to penetrate twice-in the 57th minute from James Trotman and 67th from Romel Jones. The two goals gave Watookas the win without retaliation.
