Double-header on today
Two more matches are scheduled for today at different venues in the John Fernandes Insurance Services Ltd Men’s Second Division competition.
Over at the GCC ground, Carib Degenerates go up against Western Dragons which is the opening game for both teams, while at DCC, Old Fort and GCC do battle.
In the Degenerates versus Dragons encounter, the former will depend on the services of former nationals Rawl Davson, Tristan Gomes, Troy Peters, Gregory Sills, Sheldon Corlette and James Mentore, while the Sampson brothers Andy and Adrian will lead the Dragons quest for full points with support expected from Cobin Forbes, Traison Corbin and Deon Bradford.
In the other clash of the day, Old fort will rely on the services of Dwayne Alleyne, Jason De Santos, Clarence Edwards, Jamal Robinson, Michael Jack and Eric Joseph to boost their chances of gaining maximum points after drawing their first game, while GCC, who will no doubt start as favourites have a strong line-up that includes the speedy Shad Fernandes, Stuart Gonsalves, Shaka Gill, Leonard George and Trevon Smith.
The ever-improving Michael Xavier is expected between the uprights.
So far, two matches have been completed and both resulted in draws.
Hikers, the only team to play two matches lead the points table of the two-round competition with 2 points followed by Old Fort and GCC with 1 point each.
The tournament consists of two round-robin rounds where teams earn three points for a win and one point for a draw. At the end of the two rounds, the team with the most points will be declared the winner.
All matches begin at 16:45 hrs.
