The 2009 Leslie Amsterdam Memorial Under-17 Cricket Competition organised by the Berbice Cricket Board, continued recently with the second round of matches.
Berbice Under-15 all-rounder Kevin Ramdeen produced a very outstanding performance when he firstly took 4 for 28 to help his club, Rose Hall Community Centre of Canje bowl out Young Guns of Susannah for 107 and their first innings.
He then came back with the bat and slammed 102 N.O, which together with 67 from Kirk Jhetoo helped Rose Hall amass 272 for 3 declared in their first innings reply. In Young Guns second innings he took 6 for 11 (match haul of 10 for 39) to see them bowled out for 47 this time, Rose Hall winning by an innings and 21 runs.
Off spinner Navindra Gossai’s 4 for 7 helped Woodley Park Young Strikers bowls out No. 2 for 79, but then No. 2 medium pacer took Fiaz Gafoor 6 for 11 to skittle out Woodley Park for 33 in response. With a lead of 46, No. 2 were bowled out for 45 in their 2nd innings with Gossai picking up 6 for 17 (match bowling figures 10 for 24). Set 92 for victory Gossai struck 60 N.O to guide them to a 4 wicket win.
Other batsmen scoring half centuries were Richard Anthony of Shieldstown, Mooneshwar Rashdhari of No. 68, Tregon Henry of Tucber Park A, Shemroy Mc Kenzie of Police, Clifton Mc Kenzie of Kildonan and Duane Edwards of Crabwood Creek Rising.
