Police were last night hunting for two gunmen who allegedly made off with an undisclosed sum of cash and jewellery after holding up a businessman and his family at Tuschen, East Bank Essequibo.
Reports state that the family was in their shop at around 19:00 hrs when the men, who arrived by car, entered the premises and held the victims at gunpoint.
According to a source, the businessman was forced to hand over a quantity of money and jewellery after the robbers threatened to shoot one of his small daughters.
The men reportedly then fled in their car to the back of Tuschen.
At press time police ranks had set up roadblocks and were scouring the area for the suspects.
