Dear Editor,
Permit me to question the President on his statement ‘crime is blown out of all proportion by Kaieteur News’
Crime is beyond control in Guyana and it is right of any decent person or media to highlight where Guyana is heading.
Finding excuses by comparing other countries is escapism from one’s responsibilities.
If the President and his Government share the view that Guyana is safe, let them stop going about their daily activities without security, and also not have security guards looking at their homes.
When the late President Burnham used to travel about, the PPP supporters from all levels made unprintable disparaging remarks about the sirens blaring. Now President Jagdeo is doing exactly the same and not a word from any level of the PPP.
The President should also publish the annual or monthly costs of security for the him and his Cabinet.
