Pomeroon, Central Essequibo, East Bank Essequibo and Bartica recorded victories as play in the Essequibo Leg of the Neal & Massy Nationwide 40 overs Cricket Competition continued in the Cinderella County on Saturday with matches in Zone A and B.
In Zone A, Pomeroon defeated South Essequibo by 3 wickets at Golden Fleece ground. South batted first and made 217 for 9 in 40 overs. Royan Federicks top scored with 58 while Norman Federicks and Chandy Jairam supported with 38 and 24 respectively. Chris Williams (3-31) and Basil Persaud (2-45) were the pick of the bowlers for Pomeroon.
In reply Pomeroon scored 218 – 7 in 38 overs. Anthony Persaud was their leading run getter with 70. He was well supported by Chris Williams 29, Ramesh Narine 25 and Eric Gomes 23. Dillon Heyliger and Anthony Adams took two wickets each for South.
At Lima, Central Essequibo got the better of North Essequibo by 18 runs. Central took first strike and were all out for 204 in 39.1 overs.
