The recent selection of a Bishop to succeed the Right Reverend, Randolph George, has in its wake paved the way for the election of the next Archbishop of the Province of the West Indies.
According to a press release, the house of Bishops of the Province of the West Indies met from August 25 through 27 last, in order to make the auspicious selection of the Venerable Cornell Jerome Moss, an Archdeacon of Nassau in the Bahamas, to replace Bishop George.
The Right Reverend, Errol Brooks, Senior Bishop of the province and Bishop of the North-East Caribbean and Aruba was on hand to make the historic announcement.
Bishops slated to attend the Consecration of Reverend Moss at the St George’s Cathedral on Tuesday 8, December, will arrive in Guyana two days prior.
On Wednesday, December, 9, there will be a meeting of the three houses of Provincial Synod – the House of Bishops, the House of Clergy and the House of Laity to elect the next Archbishop of the Province of the West Indies.
According to the release, the selection could not have taken place until after the selection of the Bishop of Guyana which complements the House of Bishops.
Following the selections on Sunday December 13, the priests and Bishops will worship at different local parishes.
