Shamrock, Ruby United, Windsor Forest and Vergenoegen registered wins in the latest round of action in the Barakat Brothers West Demerara 40-overs cricket while favorites Meten-Meer-Zorg ‘A’ and Zeeburg lost their matches.
SATURDAY AT ZEEBURG
Ruby United trashed Joint Zone A leader Zeeburg in their own back yard by 102 runs. Batting first Ruby made 217 all out in 35.1 over with right handed opener Ravi Ramotar top scoring with 62, Lincoln Leander 31, Faslim Bacchus and Gurden Lallram support with 21 each.
Bowling for Zeeburg, Dhanpaul took 3-14 and Mandalall Doodnarine took 2-19. In reply Zeeburg made 115 all out from 16.3 overs with Chrishundial Persaud (27) and Sathroham Persaud 25 offering resistance. Bowling for Ruby, former Essequibo under-15 pacer Sherwin Burnett bowled impressively to bag 4 – 34 while veteran Feroz Ghani took 3-11.
SATURDAY AT UIVTLUGHT
Windsor Forest beat Independence by 3 wickets – batting first Independence 166-8 from 30 overs. Anand Bharrat 66 not out, Vivian Beckles 20 and Kishan Shivgobin 16 – Bhesham Dhanraj 2-23 Julian Williams 2 – 28 and Ganpat Sukhram 2-32 share the wickets – Windsor Forest reached 167-7, Fyiez Salul 46 not out, Yudishir Parbhudin 21 batted well for winners. Hamid Azeez pickup 4 – 28 in a loosing cause.
SUNDAY AT METEN MEER-ZORG-WEST
The host lost to Vergenoegen by 3 wickets batting First Meten-Meer-Zorg A struggled to 104 all out in 28.1 overs with Sase Narine making 21, Shawn Mc Kay 17. Michael Goberdhan 4-32 and Javid Shafeer 3-12 did the damage with the ball.
Vergenoegen then reach 105 for 7. In 30.1 overs. Alwick Legall top scored with 28. Vinod Rajkumar 3-18 and Avinash Shardananda 2-12 bowled well for Meten-Meer -Zorg A.
SUNDAY AT UIVTLUGHT
Zone B leader Leonora beat the home team by 19 runs – Leonard 145 all out in 38 overs. Jitendra Kishore scored 56 and Hamesh Indar 25. Deon Carew took 3-22 and Selwyn Branth 3-29. Vijay Singh 3-27. Uitvlugt In reply reached 126 all out in 30.4 overs with opener Royston Grenville hitting 30 and Robin Seenarine 18 in a losing cause. Marlon Basdeo 3 – 14 bowled well for Leonora.
SUNDAY AT ZEEBURG
Shamrock beat Meten-Meer-Zorg B by 98 runs. Shamrock scored the competition highest total 339 7 from 40 over with they captain Julius Williams smash 16 from and 2 sixes in his 92 not out. Deoraj Singh and Mohamed Nizamuddeen support with 61 each. Meten-Meer-Zorg B skipper Anil Soodeo took 4-34 and Zaheer Khan 2-20.
Meten-Meer-Zorg ‘B’ fell for 241 in 28.1 overs with Zaheer Khan 50, Anil Sookdeo 41 and Leyland Sobers 31 batting well for the losers. Bowing for Shamrock Dukraj Singh had 3-20 and Julius Williams 2-42.
The competition continues this weekend with five matches. Zone ‘A’ leaders Meten-Meer-Zorg ‘A’ and Zeeburg have already qualified for the Semi-finals in Zone ‘A’.
While Windsor Forest Independence and Leonora are fighting for the two other Semi-final spots in Zone ‘B’.
