Rangers SC and Die Hard XI defeated Parika /Hydronie Sports Club and Young Warriors respectively to set up a clash today at the GCC, Bourda from 2:00pm.
In the match between Rangers SC and Parika/Hydronie SC, which was an all West Coast Demerara affair, giant killers Parka/Hydronie SC won the toss and inserted Rangers SC on a good wicket and immediately showed why they won against the other top teams by having Rangers SC on the ropes at 12-3 in the fourth over.
Yubraj Singh (26) and Zaheer Haniff (22) then featured in a fifth wicket partnership of 61 off 6 overs which help to put some respectability to the score, but with their dismissals the innings went into a slide and they eventually were all out for 116 in 14 overs.
Alfred Singh with 3-18 off 3 overs was the best bowler and he was well supported by Nandram Lallaram with 2-20 off his 3 overs.
When Parika/Hydronie SC began their innings it was all attack and that proved to be their downfall as there was a steady procession to and from the pavilion as they folded for 74 in 10 overs. Leon Spires with 18 was the only batsman to enter double figures as the others couldn’t resist going for big shots and fell caught on the long off and long on boundaries.
The chief Destroyer for Rangers was Jagmohan Singh with 3-9 from 3 overs and he was supported by Diaram Persaud with 3-30 and skipper Asif Saffie with 2-7 from 3 overs.
Over at Essequibo at the Reliance Ground, Die Hard XI easily disposed of Young Warriors by six wickets.
Young Warriors won the toss and batted scoring 117 all out in 14.3 overs with Paramlall Ragubansie 16 being the top scorer. Bowling for Die Hard XI was the consistent all rounder Yassir Mohamed 3-22 from 3 overs and he was supported by Rupert Chand with 2 -17 from 3 overs.
Die Hard XI began their chase in a hurry by clobbering 5 sixes off the first two overs but with the introduction of the slower bowlers things changed and Die Hard XI lost four quick wickets but Jitendra Amrit with 54 and the confident Yassir Mohamed took them to 119-4 in 10 overs. Paramlall Ragubansie returned to capture 2- 12 from 3 overs.
