Kaieteur Sport inadvertently stated that cricket action was fixed for the GCC ground last evening, however, that match will be contested tonight.
Cricket buffs will be treated to a keen tussle when Karibee Rice, stages a 30 over softball cricket match in memory of the late rice magnate, Nand Persaud, under floodlights, at the GCC Ground Bourda this evening for the Nand Persaud Memorial trophy starting from 18:00hrs. The action will feature a Karibee Rice team against a Floodlights XI in a highly anticipated action packed encounter. Despite Floodlights XI being a strong unit that has proven its worth in successful outings locally and overseas, Karibee Rice representative, Mohin Persaud, is confident that his team can come out victorious since they have been preparing for the encounter.
Persaud said that they are expecting keen competition and are looking forward to the match.
He vowed to upset Floodlights despite their strong standing.
Ariel Enterprise of Regent Street and 4R of Duncan Street, Georgetown are the main sponsors of the match.
Nand Persaud & Co. Ltd is the largest supplier of agricultural machinery and spares in the Corentyne Region.
Nand Persaud, founder of this company died on 12th Jan 2006, at age 63, and all trophies are sponsored by his company.
Meanwhile, the Trophy Stall Countrywide Softball finals between Rangers Sports Club of West Demerara and Die Hard XI of Essequibo will also comprise a part of tonight’s activities.
The players have been engaged in several weeks of hectic competition and tonight’s match is expected to produce fireworks as both teams have been impressive throughout the tournament.
