A 16-year-old boy visiting a Rockstone timber concession with his father, died at around 10:00 hrs yesterday after a tree limb fell on him.
The victim, Christopher Simon, of Number 19 Village, West Coast Berbice, was on his first visit to Linden when the tragedy occurred.
Kaieteur News understands that the father, Robert Simon, told police that he was sitting a few feet away from his son while visiting the timber concession, when a rotting tree limb came crashing down.
The lad sustained extensive head injuries and died even as efforts were being made to take him to a hospital. His body was subsequently taken to the Wismar Hospital mortuary.
