Dear Editor,
If you ever had the time to catch the nightly televised programmes titled, “Count Down with Keith Olbermann” and “The Rachel Maddow Show”, broadcast on MSNBC, then you will easily appreciate the format and the angle of this missive.
The pathetic reactions by the GOP (Republican Party) to President Obama’s overwhelming victory and his subsequent take of the White House, thus, his administration, is equally idiotic as the quandary our government finds itself in.
Further, I will endeavour at all cost, to eschew saying anything that would produce libel actions from the subjects that form the context of this essay, as they ostensibly see this (libel action and complaints to the gods) as the only effective resort to retort to their critics and I don’t have any money to give anyone.
First up, it is with unreserved disgust that I feel compelled to debunk the drivel alleged by Kwame McCoy against columnist, Mr. Fredrick Kissoon.
It is obvious that McCoy who incidentally is the Information Liaison to the President, exhibits a large lack of simple comprehension in responding the Mr. Kissoon article titled, “Ten Years of Jagdeo: Faustian journey”, when he, in an attempt to brand Mr. Kissoon as a racist or link the statement expressed in his (Kasson’s) article with chauvinistic fabric toward black people.
Mr. McCoy’s attempt to stir up the ethnic divide in society in the wake of the the Simels’ trial, is pathetic.
It shouldn’t surprise the decent Guyanese citizen that bleakness and hopelessness is a consequence of the likes of dim bulbs like McCoy, who make up the Office of the President staff. Mr. McCoy, Monkey Mountain is an actual place in Guyana.
McCoy continued with self-assuring arrogance and referred to himself as a young professional. And you wondered if McCoy could get anymore portentous.
For Mr. McCoy, to consider Mr. Kissoon or his statement in the article in discussion to contain racist material against blacks is asinine.
We come now to Minister Clement Rohee. I have always wondered, what is the contribution of this minister to his party and this country?
Minister Rohee is the one minister you could look forward to offering the most vacuous statement. When he opens his mouth to speak of serious security matters, he smiles and the inevitable spews out.
The latest is a statement he made in a news item on Tuesday of last week. When asked about the development into the investigation of the intellectual authors behind the Ministry of Health inferno.
Minister Rohee told the reporter that “they”- I suspect he was referring to his ministry and the GPF, cannot do anything, for reasons only Minister Rohee and Commissioner Henry Greene know the answer. Again, this conspiracy theory of “Intellectual Author” is comical.
This theatre being played out by Rohee and Henry Greene is nothing short of a travesty, when decisive actions should be taken to address the profligacy that characterises this administration.
Minister Rohee said sometime ago that Guyana was not ready for a forensic facility in order to effectively combat and resolve crimes.
The world is steadfastly moving toward making forensic a part of the crime fighting programme. Countries that don’t have are moving toward putting it in place, while those with existing facilities are improving on them every day. It has become an imperative tool in crime fighting and investigative work.
Commission Henry Greene wasted no time in displaying his ingratiating predilection and in the process, by virtue of his position, has bolstered the ruling party to perpetuate their cavalier intransigence in governing this country.
So many Guyanese have expressly voiced their concerns about the positions taken by the security forces, including the GDF and GPF regarding their alignment with the ruling administration.
