Guyana, HQ maintain lead after Day 2
Headquarters’ Leota Bobb stormed to the top of the Women’s 200m podium yesterday at the Police Sports Club ground, Eve Leary when the Annual Guyana Police Force Track and Field Championships continued.
Bobb had little challenge in the race from the very start, as she blasted her way out of the blocks to take the lead on the first turn then powered her way to victory down the straight ahead of Gayleen Doris and Sheion Boyer.
Bobb led the Headquarters sweep in the event to contribute to their emphatic lead that gives ‘A’, ‘B’ and ‘C’ Divisions very little hope of overhauling them before the curtains come down on the event tomorrow.
Headquarters are currently leading the Divisional competition with 250 points with the ‘A’ Division trailing on 167 points. ‘B’ and ‘C’ Divisions are behind on 127 and 46 points in that order of that segment of the competition.
Meanwhile, Guyana looked on course to defend its title when the country raced to a 216 points lead in the International competition. Trinidad and Tobago is in second position on 60 points while Barbados trails on 46 points. The competition continues tomorrow with most of the finals after a rest day today where Minister of Home Affairs, Clement Rohee is expected to officially open the event with the featured address following a March Past.
