Legay take 11-wkt match haul as MSC win
Danny Narayan and Kwame Krosse shared a record unfinished 318-run 3rd wicket partnership while left-arm spinner Denis Legay bagged an 11-wicket match haul as Malteenoes Sports Club (MSC) beat host GYO by an innings and 5 runs on Sunday in their Georgetown Cricket Association Raymond Panday/Cummings Electrical 2-day 2nd division cricket competition.
Narayan, a former Guyana Under-19 player, smashed 27 fours and 5 sixes in his unbeaten double century while Krosse, who has failed to fulfill his batting promise since he led Guyana at the Under-15 level 2 years ago, batted responsibility and hit 7 fours as he stroked the ball along the ground on the small outfield in his maiden ton.
The pair joined forces ay 105-2 when Delvon McEwan, who hit 14 fours and 2 sixes in his attractive 81, was LBW to Deo Sarran.
After Floyd Rollins (13) was removed by Carlos Reid at 85-1 and opener McEwen departed shortly afterwards, Narayan and the more subdued Krosse put together the highest third wicket partnership by any Malteenoes pair at any level as they notched up a record 3rd wicket partnership in Georgetown cricket before MSC declared at 423-2.
Legay, who toured England with the Guyana Under-15 team a few seasons ago, mesmerized the batsmen to finish with 7-44 from 12 overs. Adrian Smith supported with 2-45 as GYO were bowled out for 178 with Jonathon Alphonso top scoring with 30.
Asked to follow-on, GYO fell for 240 with a fighting 74 from Randy Rawlings and 30 from Mike Goolsarran.
Legay took 4-66 from 13 overs to finish with 11-110 while former Guyana First-Class player Neil Barry took 3-28 from 10 overs for MSC. (Sean Devers)
