As Brusche’s B/ball Classic nears Final Four
RAVENS OFFENCE!!! From left, Damian Liverpool, Rodwell Fortune and Kevin Lawrence after their respective performances Sunday night.

Dyna’s Ravens clinically disposed of Amelia Ward Jets Sunday night when the Brusche’s Basketball Classic continued at the Mackenzie Sports Club court in Linden amid growing concerns that a Georgetown team may defend the title.
Ravens won 64-58 in the featured game with Kevin Lawrence leading from the front with 16 points and Damian Liverpool adding 13 points along with Fortune’s 10 points to list a serious performance against the top ranked Jets.
Kevin Joseph and Akeem Khanai top scored for Jets with 17 points each after Jets looked assured and comfortable in the first quarter that they won 12-10 after playing from behind for much of the last half of the tournament.
ULTIMATE TEST!!! Kevin Joseph (left, with ball) goes centre court against Ravens’ Ryan Gullen at the Mackenzie Sports Club Sunday night.
Jets continued to play to their strengths and soon were ahead 18-12 after five minutes in a defensive battle had elapsed but Lawrence through acute leadership that included defence hauled his team to equalise at 18 points each.
Ravens turned on the heater in the last five minutes before halftime and raced to a 30-20 points’ lead in the game, which attested to the standard of Ravens’ basketball as opposed to many other teams that surfaced in Linden.
The team from Georgetown took advantage of Bulls’ poor perimeter defence to allow the resurgent Ravens’ replacement guard Marlon Rodrigues to put some dagger into Bulls with a few crucial three-point jump shots.
The pundits, including this writer, predicted that Ravens should not have a rough time in determining the outcome of the game. The scenario is simple for Jets: win the first half and a defensive target might just surface in the last half.
Ravens completely dominated the final period of the game with Fortune entertaining those that were present with a few ‘Showtime’ moves. It was a massacre and to think of what is possible if Darcel Harris had played is unfathomable.
